2020 AP Test Prep

Resources for AP Test Preparation

Taylor Via Video! (Quick Recap of the 20202 AP Test in VIDEO format (instead of a bunch of words to read!)

AP Test Format —

APUSH – MAY 15 at 1pm…login by 12:30

APLANG – May 20 at 1pm…login by 12:30

  • 30 minute “login” time
  • 45 minute “testing” time
  • 5 minute “upload” time

Schedule of AP Class Live Videos — Here’s the schedule, but it’s a little confusing.  The “Periods” down the side are like “class period,” not the AP Time Periods.  AP US  is near the top there at the bottom — Period 3 (11-11:45 ET = 10-10:45 CT).  AP Lang is closer to the bottom (Period 7 – 3 – 3:45ET = 2-2:45 CT)

APUSH Specific:

5 Document DBQ with new rubric

Taylor’s DBQ Analysis Sheet (print several copies and keep this by your computer.  Use it to jot down ideas as you read the documents so you don’t have to scroll up and down)

College Board DBQ Rubric – NEW for 2020

Taylor’s DBQ Rubric (same as the CB one above, but broken down a bit more to make it more clear.)

How to Write a DBQ / DBQ Rubric explanation – Taylor talks through the new DBQ Rubric and uses WHAP examples, but the content is the same (**VIDEO OPTION)

How to Write a DBQ page  – This one is APUSH specific

AP Videos (Playlist)APLANG –    AP Videos (Playlist) APUSH- these are created by the College Board, and they go live every day from 10 – 10:45 AM. These are long, and honestly can be a bit dry — but they are created by College Board and should be focused on what’s on the exam.  (**Video Option!!)

Daniel Jocz APUSH Reviews— Daniel is a fantastic APUSH teacher who has put together a variety of videos.  Some are more detailed, chapter by chapter – while others are general overviews.

Crash Course US History  — While not deep, Crash Course is a good overview to remind you of what you should already know.

Khan Academy AP US History – This isn’t updated from the Old -Old test (as in the one people took last year, not just the one you were expecting to take this year…) so make sure you find the helpful things.  They have NOT updated to the new DBQ format, so do not listen to their DBQ info  but the content for the first units is good…just pay attention to timelines!  You can’t use any information from before 1200!!

Gilder Lehrman AP US History  — This resource is an old standby full of APUSH information. There are videos, readings, short and long — plenty to dig your teeth into if you want to review more content.

Content Keeper — This activity is one of your “Should Do” activities for each week of review.  Since you won’t have time to do a lot of looking things up during the test, these one page review sheets will be very helpful.  It’s basically a way of compiling specific facts that could be used for Contextualization (use facts from a different theme or from the time period before the prompt) or for specific evidence as you write.

APLANG Specific:

45 minute Rhetorical Analysis

CollegeBoard RA Rubric (this is the same one we’ve used all year — make sure you scroll to Question 2, the RA.

AP Videos (Playlist)APLANG — these are created by the College Board, and they go live every day from 2 – 2:45pm. These are long, and honestly can be a bit dry — but they are created by College Board and should be focused on what’s on the exam.  (**Video Option!!)
